Village of the Heike-Clan Survivors
The starry sky is beautiful, and in the mountain in Ise, it`s also delightful to embrace the beauty of fresh greenery, with babbling streams and the lingering legend of the Heike refugees adding to the enchantment. Fireflies dance in the early summer, creating a captivating scene.
The areas of Yamochi-cho and Yokowa-cho are historically referred to as ‘Fubonji dani (Ichiuda)’ in the former Kishu Ise Province, known as the Valley of the Heike Clan.
In 1185, following their defeat by the Genji clan at the Battle of Dan-no-ura, it is believed that Tomomori took his own life. However, due to the lack of concrete evidence of his demise, another narrative suggests that he, along with 30 loyal followers, aimed to revive the Heike clan. This area is rich with stories and legends about the survivors of the Heike clan.
